To ensure the deployment of invisible airbags in automobiles, the so-called slush skins of dashboards and door linings must be cut in to a very close tolerance of residual wallthickness.
There are various procedures suitable for the foil weakening. GEISS is using a technology, whereby the foil or slush gets weakened by a heated knife, an ultrasonically excited blade or a laser on the rear side. This invisible weakening guarantees a controlled airbag release.
A residual thickness of 0.3 to 0.5 mm can be attained by this very even weakening - with a tolerance of only ± 0,05 mm. The closed surface rules out any moisture penetration. Furthermore the high level of process reliability and the low wear and tear are characteristic, which makes the application of this technology very efficient.

Likewise, our experience in the manufacture of the necessary cutting jig makes us a partner much sought after in the automobile industry.
