Fair Novelties at K 2004

At the K 2004 we present for the first time, side by side, two GEISS CNC trimming machines of our series FZ-LIN and FZ-ECO which provides the unique opportunity to make a direct comparison between both machines in terms of

·          productivity

·          precision, and

·          price.

The low-budget FZ-ECO series is being offered by GEISS since 2003 as a particularly light-duty and fast plastics processing machine. The PC based CNC control Sinumerik 840DI by Siemens also provides 5-axes functions like their "big brothers". In addition to plastics, this machine will also process wooden materials and aluminium.

So far already more than 10 machines of this type coud be put into operation all over the world!

As from now we offer this machine optionally with shuttle table  to provide an easy and elegant way of loading big workpieces. Machines with shuttle tables that alternately leave the machine at the left and right side, unlike machines with front sliding tables, stand out by compact design and little space requirement. The compact  design permits the machine to be completely encapsulated against noise and dust without any problem.

Trimming machine series ECO with shuttle table

Another fair novelty is the FZ DIRECT DRIVE machine specially developed for aluminium and mould milling, with all of the 5 axes driven by linear or torque motors, now featuring also a gimbal milling head. Due to the size of the torque motors this series could so far only be produced with an orthogonal head.

The basic design concept of the GEISS CNC trimming machines – portal-type construction with stationary machine table – proved to be ideal for the use of linear drives.

Our CNC trimming machine LIN is distiguished by:

·          extreme dynamic response,

·          very high travel speed,

·          enormous precision in processing contours,

·          high acceleration,

·          simple assembly,

·          nearly maintenance-free,

·          short cycle times, therefore

·          high productivity.

The fact of the matter is that the processing times for processing centres with linear drives are nearly cut in half when compared to the same machine with conventional drives. Today already it appears that the life of such a machine is by far superior to that of a machine with conventional drives!

Linear drives are used already since 1998 in CNC milling machines by GEISS without any problem. More than 60 machines sold equipped with this high-tech drive speak for themselves!

newly developed sonotrode

Last but not least, GEISS AG exhibits yet another fair novelty at the K 2004: a new and more rigid sonotrode for ultrasonic cutting.  This newly developed sonotrode permits also thicker materials to be cut with 6 axes. GEISS now offers two different ultrasonic cutting systems. One sonotrode has a collet chuck to clamp the blades. It is extremely slim and highly suitable for filigree-type work. The other sonotrode has blades soldered into a screw-in plug. This very rigid and rugged sonotrode can cut materials that so far had to be cut by other means.

We look forward to welcoming you at the K 2004

– Hall 03 / Stand 3C91!
