The Z-axis travel can be programmed independently from the other axes. Additionally, it enables the 5-axes

machine to perform a heavy-duty 3-axes operation, for example in tool making to use the machine for the machining of models or to clamp a sawblade for the milling of bath tubs.

This axis can be fitted with all milling spindles according to our Option 19. (WALTER milling spindle and IBAG milling spindle) or with cutting units according to our Options 13.1) and 13.2).

The distance between the axes is about 500 mm. The additional axis reduces the travel of the machine by this amount which has to be allowed for when determining the machine size.
