49. Equipment of Z-axis with linear incremental position measuring system

In applications with very high requirements on accuracy the heat dilatations of the Z axis must be compensated. A temperature difference of 10° only in a 1,000mm ball screws causes an error of up to 0.12mm. 

To compensate heat dilatation, a glass measuring rod of the company Heidenhain GmbH is fitted to the Z axis.

This equipment is recommended for example on machines used for model making and on machines used for the weakening of slush skins.
