9.15.1) Direct linear measuring system for X und Y axes.

In applications with very high requirements on accuracy the heat dilatations of the Z axis must be compensated. A temperature difference of 10° only in a 1.000 mm ball screws causes an error of up to 0.12 mm. 

Up to 4.000 mm axis path are direct glass encoders in use, above 4.000 mm incremental encoders with an integrated steel measuring tape.

Precondition for the equipment of the Y-axis with linear encoders is its construction as gantry axis (Option 8.9)).

Machines with linear motors do not require these options as the direct measuring systems and the gantry drive are already included in Option 4).
