5. Additional vertical spindle

Most of the GEISS Machines are equipped with the GEISS milling spindle which can clamp two tools at the same time.

Sometimes a third tool is needed to process a component but the cycle time required makes it impossible to use a milling spindle with automatic tool change. 

Sometimes, for occasional 3-axes operations it is intended to use larger tools than is possible with the GEISS spindle. 

In such cases an additional vertical spindle is often the least expensive and simplest solution. Display manufacturers which use the machines also for the milling of acrylic signs often choose this Option.

The additional vertical spindle is mounted laterally on the Z axis on a slide and can be moved into working position and retracted via M command in the program.
