GEISS Glossary

Cross cutter

A cross cutter is a machine used for the precise separation of materials across the conveying or feed direction. It is mainly employed in the processing of plastic sheets or films when exact lengths or formats are required.

Function and applications of a cross cutter in manufacturing

Cross cutters enable the precise cutting of continuously fed materials – directly inline within the production process. Depending on the design, they operate with blades, rotating cutting tools or other cutting technologies.
In GEISS automated systems, the cross cutter is equipped as standard with an integrated material transport system (see roll feed). This ensures continuous, cycle-accurate feeding and high cutting quality with maximum process reliability.
