Mono Sheet Process

The Mono Sheet process is a conventional thermoforming process for producing three dimensional plastic components from a single thermoplastic sheet. The plastic sheet is evenly heated until it becomes formable, then drawn over a mould and shaped into the desired contour using vacuum or pressure. After cooling, the component retains its shape and is then trimmed or further processed.

The result is dimensionally accurate, lightweight and cost efficient formed parts that are particularly suitable for housings, panels, covers and technical functional components.

Advantages and applications of the Mono Sheet process

The single wall structure of the Mono Sheet process offers a high degree of design freedom and enables precise, detailed contours with efficient material usage. Different wall thicknesses can be achieved selectively, allowing stability and weight to be optimally adapted to the specific application.

Functional elements such as ribs, radii and mounting points can be integrated directly into the forming process. This reduces subsequent processing steps and enables cost effective, reliable production.

Typical applications of the Mono Sheet process include panels, housings and covers, technical formed parts for mechanical engineering, as well as interior components for the automotive industry. The process is also widely used in equipment manufacturing, medical technology and for design components with visible surfaces.

The Mono Sheet process is particularly effective for large, thin walled components with complex geometries, offering cost efficiency, low weight and high dimensional accuracy.
