3K thermoforming process
The so-called 3K thermoforming process (also known as the 3K method or three-chamber process) is based on a specialised 3K setup in which the machine table is equipped with two vacuum connections. In addition, the plug assist is fitted with both vacuum and release functions.
With this equipment, moulded parts can be produced that are formed on the outside by the lower tool and on the inside by the upper tool. This method is typically used for the production of stacking pallets and trays.
Typical applications of the 3K thermoforming process
The process is mainly used for products that require precise dimensions on both the inside and outside surfaces. A typical example is stacking pallets, where functional areas such as recesses, ribs or hand grips must be formed with exact accuracy on both the outer and inner sides.
GEISS AG offers specially configured thermoforming machines with this option. The integrated compressed air functions on the table can be programmed and stored.
