GEISS Glossary

Servo motor

A servo motor is an electrically powered drive with an integrated sensor for the precise control of position, speed and torque. Unlike conventional electric motors, it enables exact regulation of motion sequences and responds quickly to deviations between target and actual values in the control system.

Importance of servo motors in industrial automation

Servo motors are used wherever highly precise movements are required – for example, in CNC machines or robotics. They play a central role in automation, as they enable repeatable and dynamic control of axes and processes.
GEISS AG uses servo motors not only in CNC machining centres but also specifically in its thermoforming machines, ensuring maximum precision, energy efficiency, process reliability and power.
